What is AssistPlus?
AssistPlus provides access to a 24/7 emergency medical and travel assistance service that provides access to valuable medical and travel-related services not usually covered by insurance plans.
Why would I need AssistPlus?
The unexpected can happen when you travel. From getting hurt to losing your passport to needing evacuation from an unsafe place. If any of these situations occur, you’ll need help — and you’ll need it fast. AssistPlus provides access to a reliable and affordable service that can help you when you need it.
Won’t my medical insurance help me and pay for my care?
If you’re hurt while traveling, your medical insurance may pay for the cost of care as outlined in your insurance policy. But often it is limited in foreign countries. And then what if you have to be transported to a medical facility or need an interpreter to translate your care? Or what if you need to be brought home for your care? Most medical insurance plans do not cover such services, leaving you to pay out of pocket, which can be very costly.
Does AssistPlus work if my medical emergency is an illness — not just an accident?
Absolutely! Any medical emergency, whether it’s caused by a sickness or accident is covered. So if you have a gallbladder attack, a stroke, infection with a fever or you’re in a car accident, you trip and fall or injure yourself playing a sport, you’ll get help.
Can I get help in every country?
Yes, no matter where you are, Travel Assistance 24/7 emergency hotline is available to help you as long as you are 100 miles or more away from home.
Do I have to answer any health questions or undergo a medical exam to get this protection?
No. Since AssistPlus is not considered a health insurance plan, no health questions are asked and no medical exam or health history are required for your acceptance.
Is AssistPlus the same as travel insurance?
No. AssistPlus is not travel insurance. However, because it provides you with access to valuable emergency medical and travel assistance services, it can be a valuable complement to your medical and travel insurance plans.
How much does AssistPlus cost?
AssistPlus is very inexpensive for all the benefits it provides. Just $89 a year includes you and only $10 more includes you, your spouse and dependent children.
Will these services be provided in the U.S. if something happens closer to home?
You’re taken care of anywhere 100 miles or more away from your home — anywhere in the U.S. and anywhere else in the world. (So you could be just 2 hours away from home and you’re covered). Of course, this includes Mexico, Canada and places like islands in the Caribbean…exotic or remote locations…even cruise ships!
Can I protect my family with AssistPlus too?
Yes, absolutely! In fact, one of the great reasons for choosing the family plan is that members of your immediate family can also take advantage of the benefits. The benefits are available to them anytime they're 100 miles or more away from home. Even if they are traveling alone!
How often can I use the benefits?
Unlike trip insurance, which may only cover you for one trip, AssistPlus benefits are available for an entire year and apply to all trips during that year. And, you won’t pay a penalty if you use the benefits. You can use these benefits as often as you need!
Can I reach a live person 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — no exceptions?
Absolutely! AssistPlus is staffed by real people — not just recordings or automated machines. You’ll always get a person — around the clock, 365 days a year. If a toll-free number is not available in the country you are, call collect. You’ll get all the handy access numbers once you register!
Will AssistPlus help my daughter who is away at college but planning to study overseas?
Yes! In fact that’s one great reason some people register in this program. Kids away at school often travel — to visit friends or study abroad. These benefits are available to them anytime they are 100 miles or more away from home provided you have the family plan.
How can I sign up for AssistPlus?
It’s easy to sign up. No medical exam, health history or lengthy paperwork required. Register Now by clicking the "GET A QUOTE" button.
Once I register, how soon will I receive the plan details?
Once you register, you should receive the material by mail within 7 to 10 business days. The material will include all the benefits offered through the AssistPlus Program.

Heart Attack in Mexico
“I was in Mexico … I suffered a heart attack and was transported to a local hospital. This was on a weekend and the people at the hospital that normally handled insurance issues with Americans were not working at the time. The hospital insisted that I pay in advance for the full treatment. I charged to my credit card an amount that satisfied them and began to be treated for the heart condition. The next morning (the individual I was traveling with) called our office in Dallas and was told that I had Medical & Travel Assistance and was given the contact information. She called Medical & Travel Assistance and they took over all issues between the hospital and my insurance company. They made sure that the hospital knew that my insurance would totally cover all charges associated with my treatment. We had no more difficulties. They also advised her on travel arrangements that could be made to ensure that I had no difficulties getting back to Texas. They relieved me of so many details about expenses and arrangements that … I only had to be concerned about my condition. I would highly recommend that anyone traveling to another country have Medical &Travel Assistance. They really do know how to get things done for you in case of emergency.”
